I have found my resolution this year. It took me a long time to figure it out, but it came to me like a flash.
I think that technology is a great thing, but I find it has become overused nowadays.
How have I come to this conclusion? Look around you. How many times do you take your phone and CALL someone? Instead we resort to texting, MSN.... Sure it's useful, but too many of us use this so we don't have to TALK to someone directly.
Instead of going out skiing, biking, running, have a picnic, we sit in front of our computers, PS3's and XBox's and play online games. Instead of inviting people over to play a game, we'd rather all stay home separately and talk on Ventrillo, Skype, etc... We'd rather play World of Warcraft and stay confined in our bedrooms than be together as a group.
Instead of really listening to music, we download it and put it aside.
Instead of taking real photos, we use digital cameras and leave the photos on our computers, losing them when the CPU fails.
Instead of taking up a pen and write a letter to someone, we send e-mails to be deleted.
So this is my resolution. I'm going back to the roots. While I'll still use my computer and gaming consoles, while I'll still be drawing in Photoshop, I'll take the time to call people when I want to talk to them unless it's very late. I'll take the time to write letters. I'll take the time to go outside and do something else than play video games once in a while. I'll discard most online games (except Chess cause it's fun
) I'll write on paper sometimes, not just for scribbles and notes. I'll make sure to print out as many photos as I can to keep their mementos alive. I'll take the time to be ME and not care how people perceive it. If I want to listen to 90's music, I will. If I want to draw or write something, I will. Because it is for ME. Nobody but ME.
That's my resolution people.
