Well to begin with, let me say that I was impressed.
Where my main fear was to see ice and snow through the whole game - it was totally "shattered" (yes, I went there) by this new content. While the outside is indeed filled with ice and snow, buildings seem to share a completely different environment reminiscent of what we know: hell world. Blood, dark, damp environments, chains, rust... it's all there. So for those of you who were afraid of looking at blue ice for the remaining of the game, this may make you feel better. It does seem to be different once in the otherworld, so we'll see.
At night, the darkness is near absolute, so your flashlight is obviously a must. The menu is quite different this time around. It works something like an old VCR, which adds a different and welcomed touch to the series. I loved the SH2 menu, but I was getting a little bored with the once awesome sounds and template it provided. It's a nice change of pace. The phone, although still strange to most fans, will perhaps provide more jumps then expected. Going around town in darkness, not knowing what could come at you and suddenly your phone rings - I know it'll make me jump. The fact that you can look behind you to see if any of those monsters are chasing you is also a great addiction. The new footage showed monsters which seemed altered slightly from the previous movies we saw. Obviously those were female. That being said, I'm hoping there will be more than faceless blobs once you play the game.
So my concerns are still with the monsters. The gameplay is a mystery for me as well. While I see the appeal with the Wii, I have a PS2 and I wonder how that will play out accordingly. I'm still not too impressed with the lack of fighting, but for all we know, playing the game itself will provide a whole different experience than watching someone else play.
Maria, OUT!
On another note, it seems the release date has been pushed back to the 12th of November.

the little monsters didn't seem too dangerous after the first few, tho I spose they eat him if he stands still for too long ..
and that' on a wii .. we has a wii, though I doubt I'll be allowed to indulge this one, someone here is a wee bit jumpy around horror, lol
It looks great so far. I had my doubts - still do - but I'm glad to see the monsters show some changes. Obviously this is only the beginning of the game so hopefully the monsters will be more elaborate.
