>I haven’t had that much time to play yesterday but I got passed the first bit, so for people who wanted a review, I can give you a small one.
Presentation</b>
Awesome. The fact that they use an old VCR feel at the beginning and around the game is actually rather ingenious and gives a major wink to the 90’s when the original SH1 came out. The intro is well done and puts you into the shoes of Harry Mason beautifully. The game does adapt to your every move, from Doctor K. ‘s questions (and even doubts your honesty!) to what you do during the game is also quite well done and entertaining.
The phone was surprisingly awesome in this case. The Wii mote IS your phone. So if you get a call or try to call somewhere, you actually have to put your Wii mote up to your ear like a real phone to understand clearly. I thought that was a great, GREAT addition and really immerses you into the story and the game. It is something the PS2 won’t be able to provide, sadly.
Interaction with objects is also very well done. Once rolling in a car, you can pull down the window if you want, lock, unlock the door, shift seats, etc…
Characters</b>
I have met but a few characters so far and I have to say I was impressed. The voice acting is top notch and very professional. While some people were sceptical about Harry… don’t be. I thought it felt like Harry, only more alive. He reacts more to his environment, and while he was worried for his daughter in the first one, you can’t feel it more than in this one, especially since you can press “A” and have him call out to her as many times as you want at first.
Cybil is the second main/old character I met. I actually got the sexy Cybil, closer to her original looks in the first game. Although why she’d walk around with a small buttoned shirt in this cold is beyond me lol I didn’t see her for long but I liked what I saw.
I also liked that you saw a bit of Cheryl at first. In the first game, you saw her sleep and open her eyes before the crash – that’s all you saw about her. She did not really have a personality per say. The intro before you’re allowed to choose to play forces you to see a little bit of how Cheryl really is at first, and I loved that. It really makes you want to find her with and for Harry in this case.
What about no weapon?</b>
It’s rather well done in this case. I DO miss the good old pipe, but I understand the need to remove weapons from Harry’s grasp better now. It really does add to the terror. But you can also hide and throw things in the way of your enemies in order to aid your escape.
My gripe in this case would be the controls. I admit I’m not used to the Wii mote so this could also be entirely my fault. But I felt I could not control Harry properly during the running sequences when I was attacked. There were times when Harry refused to run or would react very slowly. Thinking it was my Wii mote, I changed it and noticed the same problem. He would even turn around on his own and very often, simple moves like throwing off the monsters or throwing something in their way either did not work or made him turn around in the wrong direction.
I’m fairly certain I’M the problem, but I can already tell I’ll prefer the PS2 controls for this. Because of this, I found myself more frustrated then afraid after dying 5 times because Harry wouldn't stop humping the wall.
Overall and so far?</b>
It’s rather good thus far. Again I haven’t played too far passed the first ice world bits but I believe that it’s a worthy title up until now. I’ll have more info in the upcoming days.

XD
The running sequences can be frustrating because usually the movements you have to do are near real. For example, if a monster jumps on you from the from, you really have to push forward with the nunchucks, etc... So in the end you really work hard to get away from them. A little flick like most players are used to doesn't work at all... Sooo yeah lol
But the story's really getting good and interesting XD
.... or do like me and borrow a Wii from a friend and rent the game until the PS2 or PSP version comes out
Your gripes about the controls are viable. XD' I got annoyed with the running sequences. When you throw a monster off, your line of sight gets messed up.
As for the story? I LOVED IT TO BITS. But do NOT go into this game expecting a remake. When they say "reimagining," they really mean it. That having been said, I thought it was fascinating, the way the characters were twisted. The events in the game are really different - but around every corner there's a wink wink and a nudge nudge to long-time fans. <3
...
And that phone thing is just damn cool. In settings, you can turn up the speaker...and you can change your ringtone. Lo-Fi ringtone version of the mandolin from "Silent Hill"/"Hometown?" CLASSIC. XD I called every phone number I could get my mitts on. XDDDD
LOL Yeah I'm calling all the phone numbers too XD Very epic!
I'll work my way further tonight
Brookhaven has the best motto ever. XD "At Brookhaven, we know the brain is more than just an organ." ....Wut?
She's my favourite character from SH1 and I'm really interested about her portrayal in it *____*
